Full size Australian and Imperial medals are mounted in a single row of which up to and including five medals are mounted side by side. If six or more medals are worn ribands are overlapped in order to reduce the width of the group. Medal lengths, measuring from the top edge of the riband to the lower edge of the medal, are to be 95mm. Medal group widths of ten medals or more are not to exceed 200mm.
Miniature Australian and Imperial medals are mounted in a single row. An option to overlap miniature medals is authorised if the number of medals worn is deemed to be disproportionate in width.
Ribbon bar specifications differ between the Services. By way of a guide Army ribbon bars consist of up to four ribbons in width on a single ribbon bar for males and up to three ribbons in width for females.
Subsequent ribbon bars are positioned centrally above the lower row with a 3mm gap between rows.
Each ribbon bar row is to measure between 11mm and 13mm in length from the top edge of the ribbon bar to the lower edge.
Allegro Medals and Framing provide a free ribbon bar with all medal orders. Our ribbon bars are manufactured as a single uniform accoutrement and multiple rows are joined with a clear acrylic plate measuring 0.5mm thick.
